 About PAL

PAL (Product Availability Lookup) provides a single zip code or multiple zip code lookup option relative to product/network availability.
  • Results based on current product/network/service area availability: Underlying product, service area, and provider availability data is updated weekly. Please continue to monitor availability as you approach your customer's contract effective/renewal date.
  • Rural PPO: Rural PPO is available on a self-insured basis only. It is not available for fully-insured customers. This network is available as a means of providing network based coverage in the more rural locations of the country and adheres to reasonable access standards which are more broadly defined than most Aetna networks. Due to the geographical variances of the Rural PPO counties, all rural eligible zip codes/counties do not necessarily offer adequate access to participating physicians or hospitals or physician specialty types. Rural PPO eligible zip codes reflected in PAL outputs include both adequate and inadequate zip codes. Adequate implies access to at least 2 PCPs within 30 miles, 2 Specialists within 30 miles, and 1 Hospital within 40 miles. Inadequate does NOT imply access to at least 2 PCPs within 30 miles, 2 Specialists within 30 miles, and 1 Hospital within 40 miles. To determine actual Rural PPO adequacy for your case circumstances and the impact to total network access by including the Rural PPO program, please request a radius report with Rural PPO from your Aetna field representative.
  • DMO Dental: The DMO can be sold as full replacement or as part of the FOC, Dual Option or Dual Choice plan designs. In FL, KY, MD, NJ, OH and VA, the DMO can be sold only as part of FOC, Dual Option or Dual Choice (no full replacement sales).
